Aion 2 Templar Build

Global · PvE (PvP notes below) · last verified 2026-10-13 · community-compiled

This Templar build summarises community guides for Global and is checked against our damage model. NC publishes no builds, so nothing here is official; badges show where community reports agree or differ. Builds change with patches, so check the date.

Templar is the sword-and-shield main tank, yet Global guides agree it is far from a damage sponge. Its shield skills open short windows for Judgment, and once Judgment reaches level 16 you can fire it every time a window opens while the boss stares at you.

Templar stat priority (from our calculator)

Every class shares the same top three on a typical Global sheet: Smite (with party Smite) (+0.95%), Attack Increase (+0.76%), Combat Speed (+0.74%). What changes for the Templar is below.

QuestionTemplar answerNumbers (+1 point)
Crit rate or crit damage? Crit damage wins Crit rate +0.26% (= 6.1 Attack) · Crit damage +0.40% (= 9.2 Attack)
Front/back damage boost? Works; value scales with how long you hold position (75% uptime assumed) +0.72% per 1%
Smite vs boss resist Bosses resist 30% Smite. Solo with 25% Smite you are below it, so Smite adds nothing; with 10% party Smite every point counts. Solo +0.00% · Party +0.95%

Open the Templar preset in the calculator Example sheet: ~1,800 attack, 45% crit, 5% crit damage boost, 25% Smite, boss target. Your gear changes the order: enter your own numbers.

Templar note: As a tank you spend the fight facing the boss, so front damage is a live stat here and Fury and Insulting Roar both key off frontal hits. Against a boss, crit is weak for Templar because it has no crit-damage passive.

Each shield skill opens a 2-second Judgment window, so the steps alternate shield skill and Judgment.

Keep manual: Punishment (charged), Taunt, Shield Rush, Defiance.

PvP notes

  • Swap in Executing Blade (Defense shred) and Nezekan's Shield
  • Poach pulls a healer or caster into your team
  • Push Annihilate to 16 for its area version
  • Your job in mass PvP is to absorb attention, not to top the damage chart

Where guides disagree

  • Stigmas: only two of four slots are shared; guides split between offensive (Battlefield Banner) and defensive (Shield of Protection, Noble Armor) picks.
  • Stat order: a community wiki frames Templar as a pure tank (Block, HP first) while two guides push Combat Speed and damage.
  • Fury does not stack with the Gladiator's Experienced Counterstrike, so one of the two is wasted in a shared group.

Global vs Korea notes

  • One guide quotes specialization text from the Global client.
  • One community guide's build follows notes based on a September Korean/Taiwan patch; Global values may differ.

FAQ

Is Templar a good class in Aion 2?

Yes, especially for group content: it holds bosses, buffs party damage through Fury and still deals solid damage through Judgment.

Can a Templar deal real damage?

Yes. Guides report Templars near the top of damage charts when Judgment hits level 16 and Executor stays up.

What stats should a Templar prioritize?

Accuracy first. In our damage model Attack Increase, Combat Speed and front damage lead after Smite; crit is weak against bosses without a crit-damage passive. Add HP and Damage Tolerance when the healer struggles.

Which stigmas should a Templar use?

Doom Shield and Empyrean Lord's Punishment are the common core; fill the rest with Battlefield Banner and Taunt for damage, or Shield of Protection and Noble Armor for safety.

Is Templar easy to play?

The rotation is short once the macro is set; the challenge is positioning bosses and timing blocks.
