Aion 2 Assassin Build
Global · PvE (PvP notes below) · last verified 2026-10-13 · community-compiled
This Assassin build summarises community guides for Global and is checked against our damage model. NC publishes no builds, so nothing here is official; badges show where community reports agree or differ. Builds change with patches, so check the date.
The Assassin is a dual-dagger burst class that lives behind the boss. It stacks Insignias, detonates them, and chains Heart Gore every time a hit crits. It is also the one class where all five guides we read name the same four stigmas.
Assassin stat priority (from our calculator)
Every class shares the same top three on a typical Global sheet: Smite (with party Smite) (+0.95%), Attack Increase (+0.76%), Combat Speed (+0.74%). What changes for the Assassin is below.
| Question | Assassin answer | Numbers (+1 point) |
|---|---|---|
| Crit rate or crit damage? | Crit rate wins until the 50% cap | Crit rate +0.46% (= 10.7 Attack) · Crit damage +0.36% (= 8.3 Attack) |
| Front/back damage boost? | Works; value scales with how long you hold position (75% uptime assumed) | +0.72% per 1% |
| Smite vs boss resist | Bosses resist 30% Smite. Solo with 25% Smite you are below it, so Smite adds nothing; with 10% party Smite every point counts. | Solo +0.00% · Party +0.95% |
Open the Assassin preset in the calculator Example sheet: ~1,800 attack, 45% crit, 33% crit damage boost, 25% Smite, boss target. Your gear changes the order: enter your own numbers.
Assassin note: For the Assassin, crit rate is the best crit stat right up to the 50% Global cap: Heart Gore only resets on a crit, and the crit-damage passive makes each crit worth more. Back damage pays off because you should already be behind the boss.
Core skills and specialization breakpoints
| Skill | Recommendation | Status | Sources |

| Heart Gore | Level 16 specialization resets its cooldown on every crit; the biggest spike in the kit | Community consensus | Community |
| Insignia Explosion | Level 16: keeps two stacks after firing and shortens its cooldown | Community consensus | Community |
| Quick Slice | Level 12: each hit trims Insignia Explosion's cooldown; your filler | Community consensus | Community |
| Savage Roar | Only needs its early skill-speed specialization to apply Insignias fast | Community consensus | Community |
| Shadowstrike / Ambush | Positioning tools to stay behind the boss; Ambush applies Insignias from behind | Community consensus | Community |

Assassin rotation and macro
- Get behind the boss (Shadowstrike, Ambush)
- Stack five Insignias with Savage Roar or Savage Fang
- Illusive Clone + Swift Contract to open burst
- Insignia Explosion, then chain Heart Gore on every crit
- Triniel's Dagger on cooldown for its cooldown cuts

- 1Insignia ExplosionMouse2 · row 010 ms
- 2Heart GoreMouse2 · row 110 ms
- 3AmbushMouse2 · row 210 ms
- 4Quick SliceMouse110 ms
Heart Gore resets on every crit, so the macro keeps returning to it inside Illusive Clone.
Keep manual: Illusive Clone, Swift Contract, Defiance, positioning behind the boss.
Two guides add Savage Roar after Heart Gore.

PvP notes
- Evasion and stealth setup: Shadow Walk (15 lets you re-stealth), Evasion Contract, Aerial Bind
- Smoke Bomb and Spiral Slice (buff strip) are common swaps
- Aerial Bind lands guaranteed only on a target with five Insignias
- Stat focus moves to PvP Damage Tolerance, status resist and HP
Where guides disagree
- Manastones: back damage first on finished gear versus Attack/Crit/Accuracy while gearing; one community guide says both are right at different stages.
- How far to push Triniel's Dagger: early (another guide) versus level 10 only (one community guide).
Global vs Korea notes
- With a 50% crit cap on Global, crit rate stays ahead of crit damage until the cap; Korean guides assuming 80% lean on crit damage sooner.
- One community guide notes some numbers come from Korean and Taiwanese servers.
FAQ
What is the best Assassin build in Aion 2?
Heart Gore to 16, Insignia Explosion and Quick Slice next, and the four stigmas every guide agrees on: Illusive Clone, Swift Contract, Savage Fang and Triniel's Dagger.
Should an Assassin take crit rate or crit damage?
Crit rate until the 50% Global cap. Heart Gore resets on crits, and our model gives crit rate more damage per point than crit damage for this class.
Is Assassin hard to play?
It asks the most of your positioning: you need to stay behind the boss and line up bursts with Illusive Clone.
Assassin or Gladiator?
Assassin has the higher burst ceiling but needs back positioning and crit uptime; Gladiator is sturdier and plays from the front.
Is Assassin good in PvP?
Yes, with a separate stealth and evasion stigma set built around Shadow Walk.
